Techniques and Skills

-          During the graduate study, I got deep understanding on motion detection algorithm based on background modeling, such as Gaussian Mixture Model, Kernel Density Estimation Model, Codebook Model and so on. During PHD study, I mainly interested in video object segmentation and tracking, I have some experience on road recognition and I have done some work on Kalman Filter, Particle Filter, and Visual Saliency Model. Recently I’m trying to make some improvement on object tracking based on these principles.

-          In the aspect of programming skills, I have rich experience on software development of embedded system, and I developed many applications under different embedded operation systems, such as: UCOS-II, Linux, WinCE, Toppers and so on. The platform I have used includes: Samsung 44B0, Intel Xscale PXA255, TI Davinci TMS320DM6446, Faraday GM8120, Freescale MC9S12DG128 and so on. I am also good at C/C++ programming on windows, and I mainly use MFC to develop graphical applications.

Engineering Training Project:

1.        2007.3 ~ 2007.8, I joined a project for designing a Digital Video Recording System, which based on the TI Davinci Chip TMS320DM6446 and using the H.264 for video codec, and the develop environment was based on Linux and GCC cross-compiler. I was responsible for some software module of the DVRS, such as OSD, Motion Detection, and Recording.

2.        2007.9 ~ 2008.8, I was involved in composition of two books called <Introduction to Embedded System> and <Kernel Configuration and Driver Development in Windows CE> respectively (all in Chinese).

3.        2008.9 ~ 2009.3, I joined a project for designing an IP Camera. The system’s hardware was based on the Faraday’s chip GM8120, which has a MPEG4 codec chip inside. I was responsible for the software architecture design and implementation. The develop environment included Linux + GCC and Windows + Visual C++.

4.        2009.3 ~ 2009.12, I joined a project for develop a Unmanned Ground Vehicle, the goal of which is to equipped car with multiply sensors and computing device, and enable it to self-driving. The senor includes video camera, radar, GPS and electric compass. I was responsible for the strategy decision and driving control module of the software. The develop environment was based on Windows and Visual C++. The car later joined the first “The Future Challenge: Intelligent Vehicles and Beyond” competition in China, and won the champion.

5.        2010.9 ~ 2010.12, I joined a project for designing an airbag control system for the “Zhong Qi” automobile, which is designed by the team of Zhong Zhihua, who is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The system is based on the Freescale’s microcontroller MC9S12DG128 and some accelerator sensor chips, and I was responsible for the design and implementation of the software algorithm and debug environment.

6.        2011.11~2012.9, I took an intern position in R&D Center of STMicroelectronics Asia Pacific Pte Ltd in Singapore. The group I worked with mainly focuses on the Research and development of algorithms/IPs for digital video applications and products like HDTV, DVD and Set-top box. During the internship, I was responsible for research and design of depth estimation and view synthesis algorithms for free-view 3DTV. Required Development skill includes: C/C++ programming in VS2008, parallel programming by CUDA, UI programming by QT.

 

Academic Research Project:

1.        2011.9 ~ 2013.6, my project “Object Detection and Tracking in Complex Mobile Environment” was funded by “Hunan Provincial Innovation Foundation for Postgraduate”, and it successfully passed acceptance.
